International Students

Welcome all international students!

Wooster School is pleased to welcome international students to northern Fairfield County, Connecticut. Moving from one culture to another involves a lot of change, and we hope to make the transition as smooth as possible. We welcome the learning and growth that international students bring to our community.

In the 2021-22 School Year, 10 Wooster students are from China. All 10 students were previously enrolled at Wooster prior to and/or during COVID. All students who were enrolled at Wooster the previous year, with the exception of our graduates, re-enrolled at Wooster.

In the 2020-21 School Year, Wooster had 20 students from China, including 10 who were distance learning from China due to COVID-19.

13 International students graduated from the Class of 2021. They are attending the following colleges and universities:

  • Boston College
  • Boston University
  • New York University
  • Northwestern University
  • The New School
  • The Pennsylvania State University, Harrisburg (2)

Before you apply

Wooster School strongly encourages entry into the 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade for international students. Exceptions are made on occasion for well qualified students interested in other grades. Please inquire for more information.

Wooster School requires all international students to take our College Preparatory Language Course (also referred to as ESL). It is our commitment to you that you will leave with a higher level of mastery of your English skills than when you arrived at Wooster School.

Applicants from China

International students coming from China live with a host family, and therefore must work with an agency to handle placement. Wooster's current agency partner is Apex International Education Partners (AIEP). We have partnered with AIEP to help Chinese students through the admissions process and home/school placement, and to assist our students and families throughout the duration of their time here. To submit an application or if you have any questions, please contact our consultants at AIEP at info@aiepusa.com.

Students coming from China are also required to provide a TOEFL or TOEFL Jr. score. Wooster's required scores are:

  • For 7th/8th graders: 70 TOEFL/770 TOEFL Jr.
  • For 9th graders: 80 TOEFL/825 TOEFL Jr.
  • For 10th graders: 85 TOEFL/850 TOEFL Jr.
  • For 11th graders: 90 TOEFL
