A Message from Leon Weaver, President, Board of Trustees

I’m amazingly gratified by the way our community has responded to the current crisis. Let last year be remembered as a year that we all collectively came together to face, and hopefully overcame, a once in a lifetime pandemic. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I'd especially like to thank our parents and students for their support and resiliency during these remarkably challenging times. Also much credit goes to our administration and faculty for their tireless efforts in managing this crisis.

In addition, to our parents, I’d also like to thank our Alumni, past parents, grandparents, faculty and staff as well as friends of Wooster School for their generous support of the 2019-2020 Annual Appeal. Our Annual Appeal is our most important fundraising effort of the year. This fund helps to finance our operating budget and sustain other programs. It is crucial that all members of the Wooster community participate in this endeavor as it demonstrates a tangible commitment to the school.

As many of you know, and much to everyone’s disappointment, we were unable to hold a gala last year. However, I can report to you that the Annual Appeal campaign raised $426,788 in unrestricted gifts. There was also $104,675 in restricted giving of which $83,000 was earmarked for the Angel Fund. The Angel Fund is the tuition assistance fund Wooster set up at the beginning of the current pandemic crisis. Our Covid-related expenses, most of which were paid for with donations to the Annual Fund as we prepared to open Wooster safely, amounted to nearly $112,000.

Although we are not yet out of the woods, in years to come we will look back on these days and say that this was a time when we as a community came together to solve remarkably difficult problems. It is a credit to our school community that we were able to navigate through this crisis and with your ongoing support, we can continue to create an extraordinary environment for our children.
