As the new Basketball season is about to begin Wooster has a new but not so new basketball coach, Coach Anderson.

Coach Anderson grew up in Weston and always played basketball and started coaching middle school in Weston once he moved back to the area after college. He coached youth travel teams for years and would coach high school varsity fall and summer leagues for Weston High.

"Eventually I joined on to coach with Mr. Evans, my former high school teammate and friend," said Coach Anderson. "When he told me he needed an assistant at Wooster. I was varsity assistant for 3 years, took last year off, and here I am!"

He said that he is fortunate to know a lot of the upperclassmen on the team from when he coached previously. This season, he will be focusing on the fundamentals, meaning to develop shooting, dribbling, passing, and defending. Since the team lost a lot of seniors last year, the team might be younger than usual, so this year he is planning on taking time to focus on the underclassman so that he can look to the future and tone some of their fundamentals.

As for why he coaches, he says, "I love the game of basketball and enjoy watching my players develop their skills and grow both on and off the court. I've been fortunate to coach great groups of people so far and enjoy staying in touch with my former players. Nothing makes me happier than running into people I coached who are now grown adults who have great memories of playing and of their experiences on the teams I coached. Wooster is a great place and because of the strong relationships I've developed over the years I keep coming back!"
