Week 9

Last Week's Standings:

Division- East

  1. Ms. Thaler- The Stanley Kupp (6-2)
  1. Ms. Lingenheld- NY State of Mind (5-3)
  1. Mr. Lingenheld- WIN Time (4-4)
  1. Mr. DeRienzo- The Dragon Slayers (4-4)
  1. Mr. Newbury- Executive Fumbling (3-5)
  1. Mr. Fischer- Austin 3:16 (3-5)

Division: West

  1. Coach Moskowitz and Mr. Levy- 203 Orthrus (7-1)
  1. Mr. Carone- Speed Rules (6-2)
  1. Mr. Jackson- BKLYN's OWN (3-5)
  1. Mr. Byrnes- Puppy Bowl (3-5)
  1. Mr. Sacco- Sacco Squad (2-6)
  1. Mr. Swallen- Antonio's Exit Plan (2-6)

Game 1:

The Stanley Kupp (Ms. Thaler) VS. Puppy Bowl (Mr. Byrnes)

Score:

(6-3) Thaler- 139.2 (4-5) Byrnes- 169.82

MVP: Puppy Bowl's Justin Fields (42.72 fantasy points)
LVP: Justin Herbert (12.1 fantasy points)

This was a very tough loss for Ms. Thaler. One reason for this is that she is now tied with her main rival, Ms. Lingenheld, for first place in the division. In Ms. Thaler's email to me when she was sending me the scores for the matchups this week, she had something to say. "You're still allowed to roast me if you need to though, since I did lose to the Puppy Bowl." This is true, nobody considers Mr. Byrnes a big competitor yet, making him seem like a free win when you face him each week. Now, things may be different because Ms. Thaler has one of the best teams in the league, and she could not out score Puppy Bowl. There is one area of concern of The Stanley Kupp. Justin Herbert has produced yet another poor week for Ms. Thaler, making him tough to start from here on out. Austin Ekeler seems to be getting most of the team's touchdowns, so that leaves very little time for Herbert to get his share of fantasy points. There will be some decisions that have to be made in the following week as Ms. Thaler now has a record of 6-3.

Mr. Byrnes may just be turning into one of the better teams in the league. Not only was his team very good this week, but his decisions that he made were very good as well. Prior to the games on Sunday, Puppy Bowl made the decision that they were going to start Justin Fields at QB. At first I did not like this decision at all, but it seems as though he made the correct choice. Justin Fields had a career day putting up 42.72 fantasy points. Another player who performed extremely well this week for Mr. Byrnes was Davonte Adams. The Raiders WR had 36 fantasy points this week, helping clinch the win this week for Puppy Bowl. When asked about his prediction for the team's record Mr. Byrnes said, "If the season ends week 14 and I am 4-5 now, I would say I will end 9-4." This just shows how confident Mr. Byrnes is in his team, and if the squad performs like this every week, they will 100% get to that goal. It was a great week for Mr. Byrnes as he now has a record of 4-5.

Game 2:

WIN Time (Mr. Lingenheld) VS. Speed Rules (Mr. Carone)

Score:

(5-4) Lingenheld- 162.72 (6-3) Carone- 140.94

MVP: WIN Time's Joe Mixon (55.1 fantasy points)

LVP: Speed Rules' Michael Pittman Jr. (5.2 fantasy points)

Mr. Lingenheld has now won 2 games in a row and has not shown any signs of slowing down. 162 fantasy points is an absurd amount, but the greatest part about this week was one player. Joe Mixon scored 5 total touchdowns last Sunday for the Bengals. Of course, it wasn't as if this were a difficult move to start Joe Mixon as he is one of the league's top running backs, but it always helps when a player gets that many points. Another notable player for WIN Time's team this past week was Derrick Henry. Derrick Henry put up 23.5 fantasy points against a tougher Kansas City defense. Henry has been playing out of this world lately and if he keeps this streak up, Mr. Lingenheld may not lose again. Even though 5 of WIN Times' 10 starters scored less than 10 points, the team still managed to put up staggering numbers. Mr. Lingenheld now has a winning record of 5-4.

The winning had to end at some point for Mr. Carone. The past couple of weeks, Mr. Carone has been making sure that I knew that he won just in case he thought I was going to interview him. What he doesn't know is that I don't interview people that lose, so he wouldn't have been interviewed this week anyways. This week, there was one very obvious hole on this team. 3 of the 4 wide receivers got 5 fantasy points for Speed Rules and that just isn't good at all. Looking at Mr. Carone's bench, Speed Rules should have started Allen Lazard (Green Bay WR) over Allen Robinson (bad WR). This wouldn't have made that much of a difference as there were 162 fantasy points scored against him. For a couple of weeks, it seemed as though Mr. Carone's team was unbeatable, but now they finally lost after a long win streak. Speed Rules now has a very good 6-3 record.

Game 3:

NY State of Mind (Ms. Lingenheld) VS. 203 Orthrus (Mr. Moskowitz and Mr. Levy)

Score:

(6-3) Lingenheld- 115.6 (7-2) Moskowitz and Levy- 102.62

MVP: NY State of Mind's Christian Kirk (21.6 fantasy points)

LVP: 203 Orthrus' Mr. Moskowitz (0 good decisions)

This wasn't the best week for Ms. Lingenheld, but she still got a win against the best team in the league by record. With Jonathan Taylor and Saquan Barkley out this week, NY State of Mind had to find 2 new running backs to start. The two players Ms. Lingenheld chose were Cordarrelle Patterson and Michael Carter. These two players combined for almost 35 points which is very good for the fact that none of them should have been starters. NY State of Mind needed to get production from players they don't usually count on and it worked out as the team now has a record of 6-3 and is tied for first in the division with Ms. Thaler.

It was about time that 203 Orthrus had lost another game. The team had a stretch of games where they had gotten lucky, and that luck had to end at some point. A 7-1 team should never have 102 fantasy points in one week. The only player on the team this week to break 20 points was Jalen Hurts, and the player that scored the second most points this week for the team was Nick Folk (kicker for Patriots). According to Ms. Thaler, who reports that according to Mr. Levy, Mr. Moskowitz makes all the decisions on who to start for 203 Orthrus, so that is why Mr. Moskowitz was awarded the least valuable player. For some reason, Mr. Moskowitz decided to start Brandin Cooks (Teaxans WR) who was ruled out before the game started. If Mr. Moskowitz checked his lineups, he might have won because he only lost by 13. The team with the best record just dropped a game and they now have a record of 7-2.

Game 4:

Austin 3:16 (Mr. Fischer) VS. Antonio's Exit Plan (Mr. Swallen)

Score:

(4-5) Fischer- 164.74 (2-7) Swallen- 86.58

MVP: Austin 3:16's Patrick Mahomes (34.14 fantasy points)
LVP: Antonio's Exit Plan's Nyheim Hines (0 fantasy points)

In this game, Mr. Fischer outscored Mr. Swallen by 80 points. It wasn't even close to begin with. 7 of Austin 3:16's 10 players got over 10 points. 3 of the 10 players got over 24 points. One player that deserves a shoutout is Austin Ekeler. Every week, he puts up at least 20 points and is turning out to be a very good draft pick for Mr. Fischer. If Ekeler stays like this the rest of the season, this team will not lose another game. Another player that performed really well for Austin 3:16 was the MVP, Patrick Mahomes. This week, Patrick Mahomes put up 34.14 fantasy points. Even though this is a normal occurrence for a QB of Mahome's caliber, it is still worth noting his performances. This game was just an absolute blowout as Austin 3:16 now has a record of 4-5.

Someone needs to check on Mr. Swallen. Not only did he lose yet again this week, he lost by 80 points. I had the pleasure of having a conversation with Mr. Swallen and he didn't seem to be confident in his team. "Mr. Sacco or I will have to start getting ready for the loser's punishment." This is practically Mr. Swallen saying that his team is done and that his best hope for the season is not getting in last place. Surprisingly, there was one positive this week for Mr. Swallen. Tua Tagovailoa put up 24.08 fantasy points, showing that he is now back to where he was before his head injury, and that he will continue to play better for Mr. Swallen. That was about it for Antonio's Exit Plan as the team now has a record of 2-7

Game 5:

The Dragon Slayer (Mr. DeRienzo) VS. BKLYN's OWN (Mr. Jackson)

Score:

(5-4) DeRienzo- 109.86 (3-6) Jackson- 105.3

MVP: The Dragon Slayer's Tyreek Hill (27.3 fantasy points)
LVP: BKLYN's OWN's Mr. Jackson (drafting Najee Harris in the 1st Round)

Mr. DeRienzo just escaped an embarrassing loss this week against Mr. Jackson. There were a couple bad performances on The Dragon Slayer that deserve some recognition are Marcus Mariota, David Montgomery, and Panthers Defense. Marcus Mariota had 7.56 points, David Montgomery had 5.4 points, and the Panthers Defense had -6 points. Yes, Panthers Defense had -6 fantasy points and Mr. DeRienzo still won. He won all thanks to Tyreek Hill. Tyreek once again proved why he has been the best WR in the league so far this season after putting up 27.3 fantasy points. This gave Mr. DeRienzo the right amount of points to get ahead of Mr. Jackson for the win. After this week, The Dragon Slayer now has a record of 5-4.

Another week, another disappointing performance from Mr. Jackson's team. Only one player for BKLYN's OWN got over 15 points and that player was Kyler Murray. The funny thing about this is that Kyler Murray didn't even get what he was projected to get. There are many key areas about this team that need to be talked about. One player that consistently is getting started every week is Elijah Moore. The last time Elijah Moore caught a pass was Week 5. Najee Harris was a first round draft pick this year in fantasy and he is now one of the worst players in the league. To be completely honest, this team has 0 chance at making the playoffs and should now focus on next year. BKLYN's OWN now has a 3-6 record.

Game 6:

Executive Fumbling (Mr. Newbury) VS. Russell Can't Cook (Mr. Sacco)

Score:

(3-6) Newbury- 77.7 (3-6) Sacco- 122.3

MVP: Russell Can't Cook's Kenyan Drake (24.9 fantasy points)

LVP: Executive Fumbling's Tyler Higbee (0 fantasy points)

This week's outcome was predictable because of what happened last week for Mr. Newbury. Last week, Mr. Newbury put up 142 fantasy points and still lost. As of right now, Executive Fumbling is allergic to winning. Tyler Higbee has not been any help as he has not been giving Mr. Newbury any good performances in the past couple of weeks. Tyler Higbee has 0 fantasy points this week. Only 2 of the 10 players on Executive Fumbling had more points than they were projected to get. These two players were Josh Allen and Rondalle Moore. Mr. Newbury is going to need more help from other players if he wants a chance at making the playoffs.

Congratulations to Mr. Sacco for winning a game without using any of the Denver Broncos players. Mr. Sacco made a really good decision and is trying to get rid of all of the players that are causing his team to lose. There was one very good decision that Mr. Sacco made that stood out from all of the others. This week, Russell Can't Cook started Kenyan Drake who was projected only 9 points. Instead of not playing well, Kenyan Drake had 24.9 fantasy points which was enough to give him the MVP award this week. After this week, Mr. Sacco now does not have the worst record in the league anymore with the Mr. Swallen loss. He now has a 3-6 record.

Now for the Interview:

Elliot: What did you do differently coming into this week?

Mr. Byrnes: I picked up Justin Fields, which helped out a little bit. I think he out performed Tom Brady. Also, Alvin Kamara is finally 100%. He was out for the first 4 weeks.

Elliot: What do you predict your record will be this year?

Mr. Byrnes: What is my record now?

Elliot: Your record is 4-5

Mr. Byrnes: If the season ends week 14 and I am 4-5 now, I would say I will end 9-4

Elliot: Do you think you will make the playoffs this year?

Mr. Byrnes: I do. It has a lot to do with who is playing well and what players are playing well. Also injuries are a factor.

Elliot: There are some rumors that your team is being badly talked about in an article, how do you feel about that?

Mr. Byrnes: I don't know about rumors. I don't care. Part of the fun in fantasy is that everyone is having fun and in a good natured way talking about each other's teams, giving each other a hard time. If we weren't talking about it, what is the point? Also, I was the last pick in the draft, so if I win, I am kinda outperforming expectations.

Elliot: Do you think that you want to change the name "Puppy Bowl" because you have a losing record with that name, or are you going to keep it?

Mr. Byrnes: I'm going to keep it. I like Puppy Bowl. Fear the Puppy Bowl

Elliot: If you had to add someone else to the league, who would it be?

Mr. Byrnes: That is a good question. Ms. Kriegel is a big Bills fan, so I would like to see her in the league.

Elliot: If there had to be a loser's punishment, what would it be?

Mr. Byrnes: Maybe they have to have a final interview with you. Questions like why should we allow you to participate next year? Did you even try?
