End of First Trimester

by: Marley Dixon & Melissa Rainville

Remember this? Our very rainy first day of school

Welcome to the end of the first trimester of the 2022-2023 school year! It's been a long one, but let's recap some of the biggest highlights this year so far:

This year started off with a lot of new students, and Ms. Lucic being the new Upper School Dean with Mr. Swallen by her side as Assistant Dean! We are so happy to have them and this year with them has been tremendous so far.

Another announcement...literary magazine is back! After a few years of its non-existence, Ms. Smith and the Echo team have come together to make it possible to release it later this year. A previous article in W!NK and posters in all English classes give all the information about that new class. Look out for our logo!

The first trimester of the year is always big. This is the trimester in which Homecoming, Spirit Week, fall sports and HVALS, Convocation, the fall play, and the PSAT/SAT took place. For Spirit Week, we had color day, pajama day, bikers vs. surfers, and Wooster wear day. Thankfully, the PSAT and SAT took place on pajama day, so students were able to take the long test in their pajamas :). This Spirit Week was shortened since we had that Monday off, but everyone still showed their spirit and brought their A-game.

Seniors have been busy preparing their college applications and have been excited and stressed at the same time. Elise has been sharing WiNK interviews about their feelings on it all, and Molly told us all about the Senior College Workshop, which helped a lot of them with final preparations.

Cast members for the fall play are so excited to present Clue! Opening night takes place TONIGHT and is showing for two weekends in a row. We hope to see you there! You can purchase tickets here.

Another new addition we had this year was the glow-in-the-dark dance. Students gathered in the reception center for a night of dancing and neon face paint. It was a blast and we hope to have one again next year.

The Open House this past weekend was the biggest admission open house in years. The student ambassadors were there to help out and were there to answer any questions on two student-led panels. This was followed by a beautiful day of sports, food trucks, and the start of Clue's Tech Week.

HVALS:

Boys soccer: #1 seed and has won the semi-finals... moving on to HVAL finals on Saturday!

Girls soccer: #2 seed and has won the quarterfinals and won their semi-finals moving on to HVAL finals on Saturday!

Girls Volleyball: #4 seed and lost in the semifinals

Girls cross country: has won the HVAL championship race and both cross country teams are running in New Englands tomorrow

Homecoming took place on Saturday, October 15th, and the Girls Varsity Soccer crushed Westover 5-1, and Girl's Varsity Volleyball dominated Westover 3-0.

We have been lucky with beautiful weekend weather this fall for our outdoor events, as Homecoming brought in alumni, parents, athletes, and celebrated Mr. Cataldo's service to Wooster.

Nine weeks of WiNK have gone by and have been filled with 140 articles and videos, all done by students. Hopefully these brought some of our experiences here at Wooster to life!
