By Teddy Porter & Jack Foster

Each Year, 32 European Football clubs compete in a competition called the Champions League. Each year teams compete in a year round competition in their leagues. There are 20 teams in each league and only the top four teams qualify to make the Champions League. Liverpool came in third place in the Premier League in the 2020-2021 season, securing their spot in the 2021-2022 Champions League. Real Madrid finished in second place in LaLiga in the 2020-2021 season which also made them qualify for the Champions League. Both Real Madrid and Liverpool had a difficult journey in the Champions League, but the job is not finished yet. These two teams will face off tomorrow at 3:00pm to bring a trophy home for their club.

This is not the first time these two teams have met during a Champions League Final. Only four years ago these teams met in an intense battle to take the trophy home. On May 26, 2018, both teams made their entrance to the Champions League field in Ukraine. Real Madrid won the match with a final score of 3-1 and the game brought many memories to the football community. Liverpool and Real Madrid have had major changes to their squad since this match. Real Madrid lost two of the biggest names in club history, Christiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos. One of the main reasons Liverpool lost this final was because of their goalkeeper, Loris Karius. Karius made two huge mistakes which at the end caused Liverpool to lose. Liverpool now has arguably the best goalkeeper in the world, Allison Becker who will be a game changer for Liverpool.

Predictions:

Teddy: I think that Real Madrid is going to win the Champions League Final because Liverpool just lost a tough battle in the Premier League where they came in second, one point behind Manchester City. Real Madrid has also had a very dominant journey to get to where they are today. They had to beat PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester City. Something Real Madrid did really well was coming back in the second leg. This might be a problem because in the Champions League Final there is no extra game to make a comeback. I think the final score will be 2-1 with Real Madrid taking the trophy home.

Jack: The match will be extremely close, but in the end, Liverpool will take the trophy. Many players are eager to get their revenge on Madrid for taking the title from them in 2018, including Mohammed Salah who was badly injured during the game. The Reds have already won two trophies this season, and I believe they will win their third on Saturday. Pick: Liverpool 2, Real Madrid 1.

The match will take place this Saturday at 3:00 EST. The starting lineups for each team will be announced the day of kickoff. Real Madrid hasn't lost a Champions League final since 1981 where they played Liverpool and lost a close match 1-0. Real Madrid and Liverpool are arguably the two best teams in the world and it will be interesting to see how these two teams play against each other in the final game of the 2021-2022 season.
